In response to Additional Deputy Commissioner Madan G Nayak’s remarks regarding food supply, the cops, who were deputed at the STJ College counting station here, held a novel protest by not having food.

However, DySP Puttamadaiah arranged food from the SJT College canteen to become a saviour of his subordinates.

Manjunath, a candidate from Anur GP, won the election with a margin of 2 votes. Interesting part is that a voter had left the ballot paper blank here.

Couples to GP

Jagadisha and Champa couple won the election from Doddamagaravalli Grama Panchayat in the taluk. While Jagadish won with margin of 18 votes, his wife Champa bagged the seat with 14 votes margin. Jagadish, who was the President of the GP for twice, won the election for the fourth time. Meanwhile, Champa is a newcomer in the Gram Panchayat.

While, Raja Naika won the election from Malleshwar GP, his wife Balinibai bagged a seat from the neighbouring Goudlapura GP. Both are tasting the victory for the fourth time.

Tight security

Police had adopted tight security measures inside the counting station on Monday. Candidates and agents were not allowed inside the station with their mobile handsets. Even mediapersons were aksed to switch off their mobile phones. Later, police also resorte.
