Chhattisgarh on alert after Naxal attack in Bengal

"In view of the bandh and the blast in West Bengal, all the districts have been asked to maintain a strict vigil," a top police official told PTI.

The concerned officials in Dantewada district have been asked to be extra cautious as naxals regularly target railway properties there, he said.The latest attack by Maoists in West Bangal came just two days after they blew up a civilian bus in Dantewada killing at least 35 people.

After the incident, bus operators and drivers are scared to ferry passengers. Many have postponed their travel plans following the attack, the official said.A trader in Dantewada said business and commercial activities have been affected due to repeated Naxal attacks and bandh.

Bijapur Superintendent of Police Avinash Mohanti said on the second day of the shutdown, buses and other modes of transport are plying normal except in interior parts of the district.
Kanker district SP Ajay Yadav said the urban areas have been by and large unaffected by the bandh.
