Turning the pages of history

Says director Ashutosh Gowariker on the actress’ first look, “This is one of my favourite images of the movie. It showcases the grit and determination of the women of 1930. Deepika portrays the character of Kalpana Datta. These were times when women were not allowed to participate in freedom movements. But she braved all odds and took the gun in her hands to fight for the country.”

Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is a period film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. It is said to be based on the book Do And Die by Manini Chatterjee, based on the Chittagong Uprising of 1930. The film is being shot in Goa and is scheduled for a worldwide release on December 3. The music of the movie is being composed by Sohail Sen.
