Protest over attacks on Indians in Oz

Most of the attacks, the demonstrators said, were opportunistic and triggered by an impression among criminal elements in Australia that Indian students are soft targets. After the protest, the Samiti submitted a memorandum to the Governor and urged him to forward it to the External Affairs Minister for immediate action.

The Samiti wanted the Centre to put pressure on the Australian Government by taking up the issue in international fora. The Samiti demanded a proper and speedy investigation into the ongoing attacks.
