The last call

As dawn broke on Saturday, his excited family began preparing to receive him, with friends and relatives dropping in.

Rehman was working in a hospital in Dubai for eight years. Son of Khader and Mariamma, Rehman is the eldest of six children. He used to run a computer training institute in Chikmagalur and left to Dubai immediately after his wedding, eight years ago. He used to visit his family in Chikmagalur once in two years.

As dawn made way for morning, the sky fell on the family. Rehman’s father collapsed when news of Rehman’s death was broken to him. Rehman’s mother, sisters, brothers, nephews and nieces are inconsolable.

“We were preparing for his arrival since a week. Everything is over,” says Mansoor, brother of Rehman and adds that his sibling was a righteous and a virtuous man who never hurt anyone.
