Apathy mars teachers' quarters

Nobody is residing in the building for the last 12 to 15 years

The school was meant for all irresepctive of caste, creed, religion and so on. With the increase in number of private schools, the education system became a business and the respect for the schools and colleges diminished.

The Government Junior College campus was set up during the British period and has its own history in Kodagu. The quarters which was built for College Principal inside the college campus is in dilapidated condition for the last several decades. However, none made any attempt to repair it. As a result, nobody is residing in the building for the last 12 to 15 years. Education department is constructing one or the other building inside the camps every year. However, they do not have funds to repair this quarters.

The Junior College campus houses Government Model Primary School, high school, PU College, First Grade College along with Kendriya Vidyalaya. About 2,000 students are studying inside the campus.

The principal’s quarters is in neglected state and are used for anti-social activities, allege public. “We have already made appeal to education department, district administration, Zilla Panchayat, MLAs to repair the quarters. However, our appeals have not been heard,” said Junior College Principal M N Gangaiah. “I want to convert this college to be one of the best PU Colleges in the State,” he assured.  At least now the quarters building should be rejuvanted.
