Founded by TV Sundaram Iyengar in 1911, the company took up racing in 1984 as part of their Research and Development programme. On Wednesday, they celebrated their 25th anniversary of their first foray into competitive racing in an elaborate function here.
Headed by R&D Racing advisor Arvind Pangaonkar, the hour-long function showcased some of TVS’ finest moments on the projector. Then, they shifted outdoors to highlight the ability of their bikes.

KP Aravind, on a TVS 260 fx, and Rafiq, riding a blazing yellow Apache RTR 165, burnt a lot of rubber with their custom stoppies and wheelies as part of the stunt show organised in questionable conditions. Many famous riders, past and present, have been a part of the TVS Racing family and Pangaonkar expressed the belief that the current crop of riders will leave behind a legacy of their own.

“We started off working on the 50 cc and did really well -- well enough to take out the competition,” said Pangaonkar.

“We have had success in many forms of two-wheeler racing and we will continue to excel in all categories we represent. We might consider racing in the underbone category in future.”
