The team comprising three police officers and one law official is expected to be in Chicago for about a fortnight.
The team is going to the US following a Justice Department communication, which also said that all officials concerned and the lawyers of Headley would be available to help them access the Pakistani-American national for interrogation.
The NIA has kept an exhaustive questionnaire, prepared by the home ministry, with which it is to confront Headley.
He has pleaded guilty before a US court to the charges of being part of a conspiracy to launch terror attacks on India, the US and Denmark. A detailed chargesheet has been served on him by the US authorities.
