That’s exactly what she has achieved. Freedom to do different roles and to be able to make decisions independently. Currently, shooting for Vijayalakshmi Singh’s Vare Wah, said to be inspired by English comedy, What Women Want, Bhavana says that it has been the most enriching experience of her career.

Especially working with a woman director like Vijayalakshmi for the first time. “I share a certain comfort level with her and it’s nice to work with a woman director. She is so mature and with her around I find it easier to grasp things,” says Bhavana, who plays Komal’s wife in the film.

When she was cast opposite Komal, Bhavana was a little nervous because of his amazing comic timing. “He is so funny. So far there hasn’t been a moment when we all have not burst into laughter. But thank god, I don’t have to do any comedy in the film, because there is no way I could match up to his standards,” she says. As an actor, Bhavana believes one should be able to do all types of roles and in different languages.

That’s why she chose to take a dig at Tamil films. Recently, Kola Koyala Mundarika, a Tamil film was released, and an excited Bhavana says that the response has been a positive one. “I play a role of a con artiste in the film. It’s an energetic role and I am happy that my role was given an equal importance as that of the hero,” she says.

Change is something Bhavana is happy about. She has seen herself change in so many different ways ever since her debut in Gaalipatta. “At the time of my debut, I was very immature. I had no clue about anything. I was always asking questions and was impatient during shoots,” she says and adds, “though all that has changed now, one of the most important things I have learnt is that a heroine must look good all the time. So I take that extra effort to look good and feel good about myself.”

Right now, she is concentrating on Vare Wah, so  Bhavana is not signing any new projects but that does not make her choosy. “I still consider myself as a struggling actress and I cannot afford to be choosy with films and roles. If at all, I would be picky about the banners I work under,” she says.
