They are at mercy of NH officials

Since the road Birur town is being converted into National Highway, authorities concerned are all set to acquire land on both sides. Families of brothers Abdul Rahim, Nisar and Abdul Rouf are staying in a small house by the side of the road. Now the family is a helpless situation as the authorities have decided to widen the road by 50 feet.

“We have no other property to shift from here and we are not rich enough to approach the court too. Where should we go if the authorities demolish our house,” asks the family members. As per rules, government should serve notice before acquiring land. However, according to family members, no notice has been served to them so far.

While many property owners in the town have won legal battle against the land acquisition, those poor family is still waiting for the ‘mercy’ of officials and the people’s representatives.
