When the town panchayat started the work on levelling the land for waste disposal at Siddalingapura, Thorenur Gram Panchayat the villagers came in the way of the work and opposed the move, on Saturday.

Town Panchayat President Nalini Ganesh, Vice-President Vijayalakshmi, Chief Officer Kenchappa had started the work on levelling the land for dumping wastes with  police protection in three acre land at Siddalingapura. When the work commenced, Thorenur Gram Panchayat President Vasanth, Vice-President Ravi, members  and villagers intervened and urged the Town Panchayat to stop the work. They said that Siddalingapura village comes under Thorenoor Gram Panchayat limits and NOC must be taken from the Gram Panchayat before starting any work. Thorenur Gram Panchayat President Vasanth said “dumping wastes at Siddalingapura will spoil the beauty of the village. In fact, GP had passed a resolution against the dumping of wastes in its Grama Sabhe.” TP President Nalini Ganesh clarified that wastes will be dumped in a scientific manner at Siddalingapura. A protection wall will be built around the dump yard.
