Justice Hegde apologises to people

Last Updated 05 July 2010, 18:53 IST

While interacting with reporters on Monday, Hegde said, “At that time, I committed a mistake and it was not with any ill intention or arrogance. I had no intention of hurting anyone.”

He turned emotional when he said: “I mentioned only one person’s name when I announced my decision to withdraw the resignation. While many politicians, organisations, lawyers and people had pressurised me to change my stance. I feel I have insulted those who supported me. Many have been hurt by my action. I tender an unconditional apology.”

The Lokayukta also said: “People may have different opinions on L K Advani. But my relation with him is like that of a father and son. That’s the only reason as to why I mentioned his name. Advani has not brought any political pressure on me,” he added.
