<p>The total number of two-wheelers registered in Bangalore has reached a mind-boggling 24.13 lakh. Cars (privately owned) are fast catching up with as many as 6.34 lakh being registered across the 10 RTOs in Bangalore.<br /><br />These statistics were tabled in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday by Transport Minister R Ashok in a written reply to N L Narendra Babu (Cong).<br /><br />There are 1.14 lakh transport four-wheelers registered in Bangalore. These include goods four-wheelers, motor cabs, maxi cabs and other taxis. <br /><br />To add to the congestion are autorickshaws. As many as 89,689 have been registered in Bangalore so far.<br /><br />Interestingly, there has been a decline in the state-wide number of new vehicles registered in 2009-10 compared to 2007-08. While 8.06 lakh new vehicles were registered in 2007-08, the figure dipped to 7.81 lakh in 2009-10.</p>
