The meeting was convened to come to a consesus on the development of market and commercial complex on C K Subbaiah Road and submit the same to the Deputy Commissioner. However, the meeting turned to be a chaos.

The meeting was convened following the receipt of a letter from DC’s office to take a decision on tender for the market and complex. The market was in deplorable condition. To develop the market, a sum of Rs 90 lakh was earmarked two years ago along with Rs 40 lakh for the construction of commercial complex. However, the Town Panchayat members failed to come to a consensus and indulged in allegations and counter allegations against each other.

As it was an emergeny meeting, media was not invited. However, when the media reached the spot, Vice-President Vijayalakshmi Suresh, members B M Suresh, Ravichandra, Fayaz Khan, Dakshayini and Geetha were in the meeting hall. They alleged that President did not listen to us. Instead, before concluding the meeting, President left the meeting halfway. However, some members said that they had taken the opinion of all the members and “President left the meeting, after it was concluded.”

When the meeting commenced later, member Ravichandra asked why President left the meeting half way and the meeting minutes were not written down in the book.
“The President said that the opinions will be jotted in sheet of paper first and later in the book. The signature of the members will also be collected for the minutes books.”
