Gorabal is the resident of Madanur village at Kushtagi taluk and was the President of Karnataka Vimochana Ranga.

Gorabal was arrested by Balehonnur police for firing at Cheeramma, a resident of Menasinahadya on February 19, 2002. After Gorabal went missing, the police were persistently on a look out for him. Recently, he was arrested by Hyderabad police and was put in Charlapa jail. N R Pura police got him to the district with regard to Cheeramma case from Andhra police.

Though he was brought in the morning, he was produced before the court only in the afternoon around 3.45 pm. However, the court was requested to provide the accused to the police custody for 15 days for investigation.

On the other hand, Gorabal has reportedly pleaded before the police that he is innocent and Andhra police have framed him unnecessarily.

Gorabal has been sent to Chikmagalur jail. He will be produced before the court again on Friday.

Slogans

Even as Gorabal was being taken to the court, he shouted out slogans in praise of CPI (Maoist). Proclaiming that he is innocent, he said that false cases have been filed against him. At one point of time, the police physically choked his mouth to prevent him from shouting slogans but he continued to blurt out slogans.
