Acting on a tip off, Dharwad Sub Urban Police caught her on the outskirts of the City when she was travelling in a private bus towards Shimoga.

Vijayabai alias Aruna alias Kanyakumari had reportedly met some persons, visited a hospital to take treatment for a health problem and purchased clothes before boarding the bus in Hubli. She is in the ‘most wanted’ list of Anti-Naxal Force, and the State Government had announced Rs 10 lakh reward for her head.

Sources said Vijayabai was an active naxal leader in Shimoga, Udupi, Chikmagalur, and Dakshina Kannada districts. She reportedly arrived Hubli on Saturday morning. The police, who had kept a close watch on her movements, boarded the same bus she was travelling in and took her into their custody on the outskirts of the City.

Sources said Vijayabai was absconding after sustaining injuries during the Mavinahole encounter, in which her close friend and Naxal leader Manohar was killed.

Hailing from Belalakatti taluk in Shimoga district, she had left her house four-five years ago to join the Naxal movement to fight against exploitation.
