Addressing mediapersons in Bangalore on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the Mahajan report on the boundary of states was final. The Marathi-speaking people had been living in perfect amity in Karnataka. They share cordial relationship with the local citizens. The State Government had committed to safeguard interests of all linguistic minorities in the State.

Similar assurance

Referring to Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray’s editorial in Sena’s mouth piece ‘Saamna’, Yeddyurappa said that Marathi-speaking people in Karnataka will not face any problem. He expected similar assurance from the Maharashtra government and the Shiv Sena chief on safety of Kannada-speaking community in Maharashtra.

Bal Thackeray in his editorial, had alleged that Marathi-speaking people had no safety in Karnataka.

The Chief Minister further said that his Government will not encourage any anti-social elements or forces to target any linguistic or religious minorities in the State.
