Karat slams BSY govt for 'shielding' Reddys

In his editorial in the coming issue of “People’s Democracy”, he also accused the Andhra Pradesh government  for allowing looting of mining ore on the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka border.

Karat accused the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh of helping illegal mining and referred to the bedlam over allotment of land in Khamam district to a mining company which has former chief minister YSR Reddy’s son-in-law as an executive director.

Referring to the Supreme Court judgment on the validity of  “socialism” in the preamble of the Constitution, he accused both the BJP and the Congress of using the mask of ‘socialism’.  
“Such loot and so massive a distortion of our democracy through the use of unbridled money power, however, requires a mask to hide behind. That is the reason why none of the political parties that embrace neo-liberal economic reforms, like Congress and its allies now or the BJP and its allies earlier, have objected to the need to show allegiance to socialism,” Karat said.
