Here’s a group that’s passionate about literature. Nudi, the student literary club at PES College, was formed primarily to promote and popularise literature among the student fraternity.

Interact with them and the confidence and excitement they exude is something else altogether.

When Anusha Singu from PES College begins to recite her poems, it is evident that she is one among the toppers, such is the comfort with which she recites each stanza of a poem.

Nudi comprises twenty active students who are interested in writing stories, poems and essays. The members are adept at performing in both Kannada and English.

They have taken part in various college festivals including Christ University, SJR College and St Joseph’s College. The team spends time in extensive practice sessions, both during college hours and sometimes after it as well.

“My teammates come up with valuable suggestions and I prepare final copy after taking their opinion. We conduct department wise literary competitions very often to scout for new talents and give them an opportunity to perform in the annual college fest,” says Karthik, one of the students.

Anusha Singu, M Leelavathi, Komala, Neveen, Karthik and Meghana have been actively taking part in all the activities of the club and they are also the main contributors to the college magazine Darphan.

“Nudi is popular among the students. We have been invited by Kannada Sahitya Parishat and have participated at various district level competitions. One of our team members Anusha Singu was invited as the honourary guest at various competitions. Her stories and poems have been selected at a state level poetry reading and story writing competition held at Christ University recently. We have also won rolling trophy in SJR College fest,” says Komala, another team member.

The team has been invited by Sudha Baraguru, a writer to her talk show Chinnara Jaguli.
“Whenever we get an invitation from outside we take the permission from the college before confirming our participation. Apart from inter-collegiate competitions, we have presented our poems in Kavi Goshti, conducted by the Rotary Club, Hanumanth Nagar and in Bangalore Zilla Sahitya Sammelana,” says Anusha.
