Penalty of over Rs 4.1 lakh imposed for power theft

KPTCL vigilance officials caught three sand filters at Tamsandra gate in Kanakapura taluk recently for directly drawing power from Bangalore Electric Supply Company's distribution lines and imposed a penalty of Rs 2.64 lakh, besides booking criminal cases against them.

In another case, the inspection team of Gulbarga Electric Supply Company (GESCOM) caught one flour mill in Yadgir taluk for committing power theft by drilling a hole on the meter and inserting stick to stop meter recording. A penalty of Rs 1.50 lakh was imposed and a criminal case booked against the mills.
