Speaking on the occasion, he said an estimated one lakh BPL cards will be issued to all the constituencies in the City by July 1 and distribution of ration and other products will start on July 1.
Thousands waited to receive their ration cards, till an exhaustive speech by Ashok ended. Many complained that they had to miss work to receive ration card on a working day.
However, when Deccan Herald spoke to the Transport Minister, he said, “We want to distribute ration cards directly as the poor get exploited by brokers, who demand commission while distributing ration cards. To avoid a situation where the poor will have to bribe to receive their own ration card, we have organised such distribution functions,” he added.
