R S Gujral appointed as new Road Transport Secretary

Gujral, a 1976 batch IAS officer of the Haryana cadre, was working as Director General, Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.His appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Raminder Singh Gujral, IAS (HY:76), currently Director General, Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, as Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways," an official announcement said.

Gujral, 57, takes over from Dutt, an IAS officer of the 1973 batch from the Karnataka cadre, who retires on July 31. Dutt was appointed as Secretary, Road Transport, on August 1, 2007.
