Paper leak forces ITI exam postponement

Lecturers involved absconding

One person, Sanjeev Lamani has been arrested in connection with the episode, and two lecturers of Government Industrial Training Institute here, wanted in this regard are absconding.

Based on the information provided by Karnataka Rajya Dalit Sangharsha Samithi district unit president Maruthi Doddamani and others, Suburban Station police raided a hotel at Court Circle here on Sunday night, and found that photocopies and handwritten copies of ‘Workshop Calculation & Science’ papers were being sold at a room there.

On Monday, ‘Workshop Calculation & Science’ examinations for electrician course, and fitter, turner, machinist and grinder course were postponed at all five examination centres in the city. Employment & Training Department Joint Director Nooruddin stated that Government ITI staffers N S Patil and Tanaji Chauhan, who were involved in the scandal, will be suspended, and a report would be sent to the higher officials.

Demanding a thorough investigation and disciplinary actions against the guilty, members of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi and Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) staged protests.
