Majage appointment: Govt gets HC notice

R L N Murthy, a City-based advocate in his PIL had challenged the appointment of Upa Lokayukta on July 15 and urged the court to strike down the appointment on the ground that it was in violation of section 11 (e) of Administrative Tribunal Act 1985. Murthy submitted that the section prohibits the appointment of any member, President and Vice President of Administrative Tribunal to be employed by the government.

Notice on liquor
The High Court has issued notices to the State, the Excise minister, Excise Commissioner, DGP and the Bangalore Police Commissioner in the matter related to serving liquor without licenses. Bhavani Ram Prasad and Manjula Bhavani had filed a PIL stating that some restaurants and dhabas were selling liquor freely without permits by obtaining the liquor from wine shops.

Bail to ditcher
Anand, whose marriage was interrupted by his pregnant girlfriend, Priyanka after he ditched her, has received conditional bail in the High Court. Under the conditions, he has to furnish two bonds of Rs 30,000 and has to report to the jurisdictional police station every 15 days. Anand has been directed not to leave Bangalore or attempt to destroy any evidence.
