Bhat Karnataka bank MD

According to a press release, following the splitting of the post of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ananthakrishna will be the Non-Executive Chairman of the Bank for a period of 3 years. The 57-year-old Bhat is an MSc (Chemistry) degree holder from Mysore University. He is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

He joined the Bank in 1973 as Probationary Officer and headed leading branches of the Bank for a period of 14 years till his promotion as Chief Accountant at Head Office in 1993. He became the Assistant General Manager in 1994 and was promoted as Deputy General Manager in 1996. He was elevated to the rank of Chief General Manager in 2005. After a stint of three and half years as CGM, now Reserve Bank of India has accorded approval for his appointment as Managing Director of the Bank. The term of CMD Ananthakrishna will expire on July 12.
