<p>Samiti District Secretary Niranjan Murthy in a press release informed that untimely rainfall and mite disease has made life difficult for coconut cultivators of the region. <br />Owing to pressure from Raitha Sangha, coconut is being purchased from these growers but the criteria adopted while purchasing the coconut is meting out injustice at the growers. <br />Due to this, the growers are compelled to sell the produce at less price. <br />While purchasing the coconut, the size of the coconut is looked at. <br />Due to scarcity of rainfall and mite disease, the size of coconuts grown here have reduced considerably and it is impossible to meet the size prescribed by the purchasing organisation.<br />He said that even small size coconuts can be of good quality and have good oil content and hence the size must not be the criterion while purchasing coconut.</p>
