VSSN bank staff lock DCC bank in Madikeri

Last Updated 17 June 2009, 18:19 IST

“Only those VSSN banks which have paid back the loans, are eligible to take part in the July 3 polling. But, the DCC bank supervisor is creating trouble in giving authorisation letters on loan clearance since VSSN banks have BJP administration,” the protesters alleged.

‘Supervisor missing’

“The supervisor is missing for the past three days. Thursday is the last day to pay back the loans. If the VSSN banks do not get the authorisation letter on Thursday, they will lose their eligibility to take part in the elections. With the fear of failure, the bank management is hatching a political conspiracy,” rued Zilla Panchayat member Manu Muttappa and Taluk Panchayat member Talur Kishor Kumar.

The protesters raised slogans against former minister M C Nanaiah and DCC Bank Managing Director Diwakar. They also demanded the suspension of the supervisor.
Learning the protest incident, DCC Bank General Manager Ponnappa arrived at the spot and promised the protesters of sending the supervisor to the VSSN banks by 10.30 am on Thursday and clear the confusions.

The protesters warned of continuing the protest if the problem was not solved on Thursday morning. BJP leaders Shanteyanda Ravi Kushalappa, Ravi Basappa and VSSN banks office bearers took part in the protest.
