End terrorism

 In Hassan, District In-charge Minister B N Bacchegowda said that terrorism and naxal menace are wrecking havoc on peace and tranquality in the country during the post independence era, even as country was marching towards being prosperous. The people of the country must launch an aggressive agitation to put an end to this and ensure their lives are calmer and happier than seeped in fear.

This would be the greatest homage to our freedom fighters who sacrificed  their lives to free us from foreign rule during the fight for freedom, he added.   

Speaking at independence Day celebrations in Hassan, the minister recalled the services of freedom fighters of Karnataka such as N S Hardikar, Gangadhara Rao Deshpande, R R Diwakar, Alur Venkata Rao, Karnad Sadashiva Rao, S Nijalingappa, Haranahalli Ramaswamy of Hassan and others.

The government of Karnataka has identified some important places of Indian Freedom struggle in various parts of the state and decided to develop them. Infact, Rs 10 crore has been earmarked by Government for this, he added.

Remembering the contributions of various personalities of Hassan district in the field of literature, art, politics and architecture, the minister said the first Kannada inscription  ‘Halmidi Shasana’ was found in Halmidi village of Belur taluk of the  district. This district even gave India its 11th prime minister too!

Bacchegowda told that State BJP Government led by B S Yeddyurappa has taken up various developmental programmes for promotion of sports, agriculture, horticulture and all activities in the district.

MLA H S Prakash, MLC Patel Shivaram, City Municipal Council President Ambika Ravishankar, Zilla Panchayat President Kamakshi Raju, Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh, Superintendent of Police K V Sharathchandra, Additional Superindent of Police K Yallappa and others were present.

Work for development 

 In Mandya,  District In-charge Minister R Ashok called upon people to work for all round development of country by utilising available natural resources.

He was speaking after inaugurating 64th Independence Day celebrations held in Mandya.
This is a big festival for all Indians to remember sacrifices made by freedom fighters and persons who contributed their mite to build the nation after long struggle to free India from the British rule.

Ashok said the BJP Government in the state is committed for the development of tourist spots of the district including Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, Melukote, KRS and other spots.

MLAS M Srinivas Ashwath Narayanagowda, MLC B Ramakrishna, In-charge City Municipal Council President Chikkanna, ZP chief Leelavathi, Deputy Commissioner Dr P C Jaffer, Superintendent of Police Koushalendrakumar and others were present.

Build robust nation 

In Chamarajanagar, Minister for Women and Child Welfare P M Narendraswamy called upon people of the country to build a robust nation based on cultural values cherished by our ancestors. He was speaking after hoisting tricolour flag at Independence Day celebrations held in Chamarjanagar on Sunday. He gave a clarion call to the countrymen to remember the contributions, sacrifice made by our freedom fighters, martyrs against foreign rule during freedom movement.

Describing various welfare programmes undertaken by State BJP Government for people of district, he said the government has released Rs 10.30 crore to ease drinking water crisis, Rs four core for asphaltation of roads in rural areas , a blue print has been prepared for supply of drinking water in Male Mahadeshwara Hills in Kollegal taluk of the region. Construction of Yatri Niwas and, road development works have been taken up in tourist destinations like Gaganachukki, Bharachukki water falls and plans to provide basic amenities at the cost of Rs 70 lakh at Hogenakkal are also underway.

MLA C Puttarangashetty, Zilla Panchayat President B M Muniraju,  Vice- President S Shivakumar, City Municipal Council President Bhagyamma, Deputy Commissioner Chakravarthi Mohan, Superintendent of Police  B S Prakash and others were present.

As many as  students of 23 schools of the city, police, home guards, scouts and guides cadets took part in flag march.
