Freescale bets on India for its products

Briefing reporters, Senior VP Henri Richard said India is very important to Freescale. India’s automotive sector is second to China in bike sales and amongst top eight for car sales.

There has been a shift in consumer preferences from engine quality to multimedia and safety, areas in which we are introducing newer and more sophisticated technologies.

These are being developed out of Freescale’s R&D Centre in Noida, making India upcoming market for it.  Stating that India is also seeing significant demand in energy saving and low power consumption, he said, Freescale’s Smart Meter technology solution would not only read and relay reading to electricity department, but also constantly alert customer on consumption patterns and ways of reducing it.

Incidentally, the company also displayed several reference designs such as intelligent hospital system, smartbook, kindle based device that allows children to read books and stringless guitar that works on touch pad at its forum.
