Meanwhile, Cameron's 3-D special edition of "Avatar", which included an extra nine minutes of footage, failed to draw cinemagoers in droves as it did last year. The film pulled up merely $4 million.
Sylvester Stallone's action hit "The Expendables" slipped to third place with $9.5 million, raising its three-week total to $82 million. Rounding out the top five were Julia Roberts' feel-good film "Eat Pray Love" and Samuel L. Jackson's action comedy "The Other Guys", taking in $7 million and $6.6 million respectively.
