Medical camp held at district rehab centre

A committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr C J Betsurmutt has been constituted for this purpose. Efforts are on to involve officials from departments of Social Welfare, Revenue, Zilla Panchayat, Health and Family Welfare, Medical College and Indian Medical Associations. The check-up camp started at 10.30 am and continued till 5 pm.

Inaugurating the medical check-up camp, Dr Betsurmutt said there are 215 destitutes in the centre of which 158 are men and 57 are women. A host of doctors examined each and every inmate. Ten temporary counters are opened and as many as eight doctors and 25 staff nurses are involved. A separate file is maintained for each inmate with the picture and sample results recorded in the file. Special treatment is being given to those suffering from TB, HIV and heart related diseases. The ADC said medical tests would be held twice a week and district health and family welfare officer would visit the centre daily.

DHO Dr B S Nagaraja Urs said anaemics are given tonics and vitamin tablets in order to improve their health condition.

District Social Welfare Officer Sitaram, District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Officer Mayadevi Galgali, District Surgeon Dr Vamanadeva, Health Camp Coordinator Dr Somashekar, Dr S Gopal from K R Hospital and District AIDS Nodal Officer were present.
