Last Updated 31 August 2010, 17:02 IST

The by-poll to the Kadur and Gulbarga South Assembly constituencies will be held on September 13 and the results will be announced on September 16.

If the results do not go in favour of the party, then the party will ask the Chief Minister to wait till the elections to the zilla pachayats and taluk panchayats are concluded.

According to the current schedule, the elections should be held in October. State Party President K S Eshwarappa told Deccan Herald on Tuesday that the party has to gear up for the next Assembly elections. Hence, it has been decided to make some changes in the Cabinet as well as at the organisational level.  The party wanted youngsters who slogged for the party’s victory in the Assembly election, to become ministers. Some of the seniors in the Cabinet would be diverted for organisational work.

Sources in the party said decks have been cleared for reinducting Shobha Karandlaje into the Cabinet. Two or three of the five Independents, who are in the ministerial team of Yeddyurappa, will be losing the posts, it is learnt.

Difficult task

Minister D Sudhakar, who is cut up with the Chief Minister after losing the Social Welfare Department portfolio, argued that Yeddyurappa would not be able to run the government without the five Independents.

“The Chief Minister formed the government because of our support. We have been loyal to him even when the Reddys rebelled against him. It will be difficult for him to drop even one of us,” Sudhakar said.

Party sources said on the direction by the high command, the Chief Minister has begun reviewing deparmental progress. The party leadership had asked Yeddyurappa not to indulge in caste politics, sources said. In addition, two party workers in each Assembly constituency will be handpicked to train them to get ready for the next Assembly polls.

“Such training will help us in making selection of candidates for the next polls easier. We will be preparing a list of the target group of 150 to work for the victory of our candidates in the ZP and TP polls”, Eshwarappa said.
