'The Chair' is India's first reality show attempting to unravel the truth behind the legends of ghosts and spirits. To be aired on UTV Bindass from September 12, the show will take 13 challengers to various 'haunted' places in India.

"All these places have a legend surrounding them and our aim is to find out the truth behind it, whether there is a supernatural existence or not. These challengers, whether they are believers or non-believers, will serve as a catalyst to that end," Nikhil Gandhi, Business Head of UTV Bindass, told PTI.

Each contestant will have to reach a chair placed at a certain point in the haunted location all by himself, without any other human companion. Once they successfully reach it, a psychic will conduct hypnosis on the person to contact the supernatural being. "It will be the challengers' way to find out whether a spirit exists or not and the psychic can contact it if there is any. It will help unravel the truth behind the story of that haunted place," said Gandhi.

'The Chair' will be a 13-episode series and is not in the form of a contest. 'Badmaash Company' star Meiyang Chang is set to host the show. "Chang is a popular face among the youth and the best thing about him is that he is a non-believer in spirits and ghosts, so he will be able to raise the questions which the audience might have in mind," said Gandhi.
