Speaking at the Teacher’s day celebrations, organised by district administration, Zilla Panchayat and Department of Public Instruction here on Monday, he said the number of students attending private schools is on the rise in the country. But, children attending government schools is a matter of pride in a country like Unites States of America. Such a situation should prevail in Indian government schools. Teachers should take this as a challenge and work towards it and become role models, he said.

The district should strive for getting good results in the SSLC and PUC exams as there are
excellent teachers in the rural areas. The Centre is contemplating to fix a good pay to the teachers. The teachers working in the Central schools are paid good salary. Similarly, the pay of the teachers of State schools should also be on par with it. If required, he would take up the issue, he promised.

ZP president B M Muniraju, MLA C Puttarangashetty, ZP vice-president S Shivakumar, TP president M Chaikkamahadevu and others were present.
