1 killed, 10 injured in violence in Kashmir Valley

Nissar Ahmad Bhat was killed and three others were injured when security forces allegedly opened fire after a mob pelted stones on them at Ajas, 45 kms from here in Bandipora district in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said.

With Bhat's death, the toll in the 95-day unrest in the Valley rose to 72.
Three persons -- Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Amir Sofi and Ishfaq Hamid -- got bullet injury when security forces allegedly opened fire to chase away a violent mob at Humhama near Srinagar Airport this afternoon, official sources said adding all of them were brought to SMHS hospital for treatment.

Before attacking the security forces with stones, the mob set ablaze railway hut and an abandoned house belonging to a particular community in the area.

A police spokesman said three persons - Zahoor Ahmad, Muzaffar Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad Tantray - were injured when security forces lobbed teargas shells to disperse a violent mob outside Parimpora Police Station here.

Two more persons were injured when security forces opened fire to chase away stone-pelting mob at Khannabal, 55 kms from here in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, they said.

Bashir Ahmad Najar, a resident of Khaipora village of Tangmarg, was admitted in SKIMS hospital at Soura here with critical head injuries, the sources said.

They said Najar had allegedly received a blow on his head while security forces were chasing an irate mob in his home town Tangmarg, 45 kms from here on Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway.
