MLA directs demolition of unlawful constructions

 Speaking to reporters after inspecting the unauthorised structures in the City on Sunday, the MLA took strong exception on construction of buildings at M G Market, bus stand and other places without obtaining statutory sanctions from City Municipal Council and Urban Development Authority. The constructions have caused loss to the tune of crores of rupees to the local body, he said and asked the acting City Municipal Commissioner Sridhar to issue notice to the violators and take steps for demolition of such structures.

The MLA said that the unlawful constructions will be brought to the notice of minister for municipal administration.

Bus stand modernisation

Revealing that tenders have been floated to take up modernisation of the bus stand in the City at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore under State Finance Commission plan, Sampangi said that the coffers of City Municipality is empty and he would take steps to increase the revenue collection of the local body by discussing the issue with the CMC president and the minister. Negotiations will be held with the tenants of shop premises in M G Market to increase the monthly rental for mobilisation of funds to provide basic amenities, he said.
