Molestation charge: CWC seeks action

He has been accused of molesting four girls at the Government Girls Home.
The organisations have also made a submission to Department of Women and Child Welfare, State and National Human Rights Commissions, and National and State Commissions on Protection of Children’s Rights, demanding strong action against the accused.

“Though Masali, a practising advocate in the Karnataka High Court and a magistrate in the consumers court is suspended, it can only be viewed as an intermediary measure,” said Kavita Ratna, a CWC member.

It is an act of shame and points to many inadequacies in the juvenile justice system, which is meant to care and protect the children in dire need, she added. The submission demands that official response to the case should not be limited to punishing the accused.
