No dearth of funds for investigation, asserts DGP

Police stations cannot reject complaints from people

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said that state government is responding positively to the demands of the police department.

“A sum of Rs 2 crore has been released to the police department to undertake investigation. Hence there will be no dearth of funds for probing any case. The complainant need not pay money for investigations,” he said and added that if cops at any police station refuse to file a FIR, then one can approach SP office to file an FIR through helpline. He said that a complainants’ meeting should convened on every third Sunday to inform the complainants about the progress in their  cases. Property parade will be organised for the complainants to identify their valuables and to return it.
The DGP said that senior officials have been directed to give weekly off and other holidays to the policemen promptly.

Constables, who works on his weekly off, now will be  given Rs 100 for the day’s work.
“Many constables do not get promoted till their retirement. Taking note of this sad situation, it has now been decided to give promotion to constables after 18 years of service, if his service record is satisfactory,” he said.

The DGP said that there was a need to set up eight full-fledged police training schools in the state. A proposal has been sent for setting up of 168 police stations, of which, the government has given nod for 25 stations. The government has already released funds for upgrading existing training schools, he informed.

Naxal activities
Singh refused to divulge details on naxal activities in the state. However, he said that the naxal activities are under control in the state.
      “Death of Hosagadde Prabha is yet to be confirmed. There was good response for the naxal surrendering package,” he said refusing to comment further about the matter.

‘Inform police’
The DGP said that assaulting a thief who was caught red handed by the public is wrong.In such a case public should act wisely and inform the police.
