Publishing house cheated of Rs 30 lakh

The sales manager of S Chand and Company has lodged a complaint accusing Kishore Kumar, who was working as manager of Kumar Krupa Road branch of causing losses by his acts.

Sales Manager Muralidhar Rao told Deccan Herald that Kishore Kumar kept the money paid by customers with himself.  He obtained a demand draft for Rs 1,370 in the name of his brother Rajesh Kasargodu from ICICI bank, but tampered with the instrument to show the amount as Rs 1.37 lakh.

He similarly manipulated the amount in a DD for Rs 1,000 as Rs one lakh, Rao said.  The cheating did not come to light as he was heading the Bangalore branch and was in a position to take decisions,

The company higher ups and auditors in Delhi started pressing the Bangalore branch to look into the delayed payment cases and demanded documents for certain cash transactions.

They directed the regional branch manager to conduct an internal inquiry when Kishore Kumar failed to answer. An examination of bank records showed that Kishore Kumar had obtained the DDs only for Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,370. Kishore submitted resignation and absconded when the inquiry began.
