Bangalore experienced the power of women, when in an event held by Ladies Circle, around 50 women took to the roads of the City, to create awareness about the community and all that the people could do to help.

The women had organised a community service event called WOW – Women On Wheels, which had all of them travelling around the City increasing awareness about their movement and encourage other young women take part in initiatives for the community.
The members of the organisation travelled in some of the prominent areas in the City, with the work of the organisation displayed on the colourful bus which drew a lot of attention from the people on the road.

The Women On Wheels bus was flagged off from M G Road with a lot of enthusiasm and  the women looking forward to a day dedicated to the community.

After leaving M G Road, the bus headed to a day-care centre for the underprivileged elderly called Sandhya Kiran, which is located at Shanti Nagar.

The bus made a stop here for the ladies to spend some time with the elderly members and also donate items to the centre.

“We provided necessities like blankets, food supplies, toiletries and clothes at the centre,” said Shilpa Baid, president, Ladies Circle.

The enthusiasm on the faces of the women couldn’t be hidden as they completed the project and hopped on to the bus ride again.

The work for the rest of the day included distributing pamphlets about the work being done by the organisation and also creating awareness about the projects, so that people could help out.

Through the bus ride, the one thing that couldn’t be ignored was the obvious bond between all the members, where all of them looked like great friends.

“We are a friendship organisation and believe that only if you forge bonds, can you work together,” said Shilpa Gupta, one of the members of Ladies Circle.

The drive was followed by a fellowship lunch to strengthen the bonding amongst circlers and enjoy the end of a successful event.
