Mega-marketing parks to boost horticulture

 The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the second international symposium on pomegranate and minor fruits including mediterranean fruits, jointly organised by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, and International Society for Horticultural Science, here on Tuesday.

Stating that the project will be taken up under public private participation (PPP), the minister said that the Government will acquire the land and allot it to private companies interested in investing in the project. Land for one of the State’s biggest ventures, the international mega-marketing park has been identified near Bengaluru International Airport in Devanahalli, he said.

The Government also plans to establish such parks in Belgaum, Hassan, Mysore and Kolar. The minister said that each park is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore. The State government will contribute Rs 25 crore, while the private firms will fund the remaining amount. “More than 100 acres of land has been identified at Kolar, Hassan and Mysore and the land acquisition process is underway,” Katti said.
