<p>Speaking to mediapersons after participating in the birth anniversary programme of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, at Moorusavira mutt premises, in Hubli on Saturday he said the Governor is expected to approve the ordinance file in a week’s time. The government order will be issued after fixing the reservation.<br /><br />The Supreme Court has recently instructed that reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and backward communities in ZP and TP elections should not exceed 50 per cent, and the law in the State has to be amended in this regard. As the Legislative Assembly is not in session to discuss the issue, an ordinance has to be issued. The government is ready for the elections and it will extend co-operation to the Election Commission. The department has furnished necessary information to the Election Commission and there is no possibility of postponing the elections. ZPs and TPs would have new administration in the month of January, he said.<br /><br />In reply to JD(S) spokesman Y S V Datta’s criticism about more representation being accorded to strong communities in the recent Cabinet expansion, Shettar said all portfolios in the government have equal importance and the Cabinet reshuffle was as per the Core Committee decision devoid of any discrimination.<br /><br />“There is no internal defection in the BJP, and Datta is making such allegations as he has no other issues to address,” said Shettar.<br /></p>
