'Sell produce to Lamp directly'

Addressing at a general meeting of the Society at the Vokkaliga Samudaya Bhavana here on Sunday, he said that the Society has collected and sold a total of 18 tonnes of honey in 2007-08. Meanhwile, the sale has been increased to 32 tonnes in the current year, he said adding that the Society has plans to double the sales in future.

The Society has earned a net profit of Rs 5.6 lakh. The collection of value added produces has been increased after the installation of driers at various places by the Society, he said adding that five more driers will be installed soon.

The membership registration campaign for the Society has been started, Chouhan said. Sanction has been sought for the setting up of a honey processing unit of 500 kg capacity, he said and called upon the members to make use of the scheme benefits properly.

The meet resolved to urge the government to construct a hostel for degree students from SC community in Koppa. Loans should be distributed to SC and ST community members to start self-employment. Further, the meet also decided to seek government’s nod for the distribution of groceries to Ashrama Schools through LAMP Co-operative Society.

Financial aid has been distributed to Stree Shakti SHG members belong to SC community and scholarship was distributed to meritorious students. Members, who collected large quantity of forest produces were felicitated on the occasion.
