Cop, minor sister shot at by militants in Kashmir

A police constable and his minor sister were injured after they were shot at by unidentified militants in Kellar area of south Kashmir’s volatile Shopian district on Wednesday evening.

Reports said the militants fired upon constable Rayees Ahmad Lone after barging inside his home at Katho Hallan village in the evening.

Lone along with his minor sister, identified as Urfi Jan, suffered bullet wounds. Lone was referred to Srinagar hospital in critical condition, reports said while the condition of his sister is stated to be stable.

Senior superintend police (SSP) Shopian, Shailendra while confirming the incident said Lone was shot at by the militants after they barged inside his house.

Meanwhile, militants lobbed a grenade on police-post Lassipora in neighboring Pulwama district. SSP Pulwama, Aslam Choudhary said the militants fired the UBGL grenade on the police post.
