JOIN USTehri (Uttarakhand) zilla panchayat members visited Kodagu zilla panchayat on Wednesday.
A delegation led by Tehri ZP president, vice president and members met Kodagu ZP CEO Prashanth Kumar Mishra and collected information on panchayat raj system.
While speaking to the delegation, the ZP CEO said that Karnataka was the first state in the country to implement panchayat raj system.
There is a three-tier system—zilla panchayat, taluk panchayat and gram panchayat functioning in each district.
With the decentralised administration, more power is entrusted to panchayats.
He explained about the various departments that come under the panchayat raj system.
Tehri ZP President Sona Sajwan and Vice President Shyam Singh collected information of release of grants, preparation of action plan and administrative system.
