JD(S) state vice president H H Devraj has alleged that legislator C T Ravi has indulged in cheap politics by declaring that he had facilitated the sanctioning of Rs 9.5 crore for the Karagada project.

Devraj also challenged the legislator to participate in a public discussion about the grants.

Devraj was addressing reporters in Chikkamagaluru on Thursday.

‘MLAs missing’

He said that Ravi was absent when the grants for the Karagada project were being discussed in the Legislative Assembly.

“In fact, all MLAs of the BJP had boycotted the proceedings on the particular day. But, with the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, the BJP leaders have started resorting to cheap gimmicks,” Devraj alleged.

The vice president said that MLCs S L Dharmegowda and S L Bhojegowda had requested for the grants, which were released by the government, accordingly.

“One should note that the Karagada project has not been completed even after 20 years, as the work was handed over to an inexperienced contractor,” Devraj said, and added, “Ravi is also responsible for the stagnation of the project.”

‘No delegation’

Devraj also wanted to know why Ravi had not led a delegation to the chief minister in relation to the development works in the district, as he had promised earlier.

Leader Chandrappa, Ramesh and Jamil Ahmed were present at the press conference.
