ASI, 5 others remanded in judicial custody

The six persons arrested for involvement in assault and death of cattle trader Husseinabba (62) have been remanded in judicial custody till June 15.

The arrested, who included a police sub inspector, were produced before court on Monday. They have been sent to Karwar prison.

Meanwhile, the other four accused, who were arrested earlier, remain in police custody.

Superintendent of police Laxman Nimbargi told reporters on Monday, that the four accused – including the VHP district president Suresh Mendon and Bajrang Dal activists Prakash Kondadi, Ratan and Umesh Shetty – are in police custody, while police sub inspector of Hiriyadka police station D N Kumar, his jeep driver Gopal and police head constable Mohan Kotwal and the three accused Sangh Pariwar activists Chethan alias Chethan Acharya, Shaliesh Shetty and Ganesh Naik are the ones who were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.

The police head said that the four prime accused are in police custody and interrogation is continuing. They might be produced before court on Wednesday, he added.
