<p>The Congress on Wednesday announced its candidates for the biennial elections to 11 seats of the Karnataka Legislative Council to be held on June 11.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Sitting MLCs C M Ibrahim and K Govindaraj, Aravind Kumar S Arali of Bidar and K Harish Kumar of Dakshina Kannada are the party candidates for coming polls, said a statement from the party.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Similarly, the BJP also announced its five candidates names for biennial elections. The BJP candidates are: S Rudregowda of Shivamogga, businessman K P Nanjundi of Bengaluru, party state general secretary N Ravi Kumar, former MP Tejaswini Gowda and sitting MLC Raghunath Malkapure of Bidar.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said in Bengaluru that his father and party supremo H D Deve Gowda would decide candidates for the Council elections.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Of the 11 seats, the JD(S) can elect two on the basis of its strength in the Legislative Assembly. It is learnt that party general secretary B M Farookh is one of the top contenders for the ticket.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Sources also said that the party leadership was not in favour of fielding any of the candidates defeated in the Assembly elections.</p>
