Don’t take money for voting: DC Senthil

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has appealed to citizens not to receive money (bribe) from political parties.

If anyone offers a bribe or has knowledge about the bribe or cases of threat /intimidation of electors, then he/she should inform the toll-free number 1950 of complaint monitoring cell which functions round-the-clock, he said.

Senthil said as per Section 171 B of IPC, any person giving or accepting cash or kind during the election process, with a view to induce the person to exercise his electoral right, is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to one year or with fine or with both. As per Section 171 C of IPC, any person who threatens any candidate of the elector or any other person, with the injury of any kind is also punishable with imprisonment up to one year or fine or both, he said.
