Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 | Women candidates fielded by parties in the last elections and how they performed

The previous Assembly polls in Delhi were held on February 8, 2020, with Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party winning with absolute majority of 62 seats, while the BJP could only mark victory in 8 seats.

All eyes are on Delhi as the national capital heads to Assembly elections next month. The 70-member Delhi Assembly is scheduled to go to polls on February 5 and the results are set to be declared on February 8.

The previous Assembly polls in Delhi were held on February 8, 2020, with the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party winning with an absolute majority of 62 seats, while the BJP could only claim 8 seats.

Ahead of the 2025 polls, let us take a look at women candidates fielded by parties in the last election and how they performed.

A total of 79 women were in the fray, where 8 were the winner candidates from AAP. There were no women candidate winners form any other party.

Here are the women candidate winners from AAP in Delhi Assembly polls 2020:

Rakhi Birla

Rakhi Birla contested from Mangol Puri (SC) constituency. Having a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication from National Broadcasting Academy, Guru Jambeshwar University of Science & Technology, Hisar, Birla had secured 74,154 votes.

She had one criminal case recorded against her and Rs 76,421 of total assets, as per the declaration.

Bandana Kumari

Bandana Kumari won from Shalimar Bagh constituency, securing 57,707 votes. She is a graduate from B R Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. Her total assets recorded are worth Rs 9,22,31,723, and liabilities worth Rs 14,83,767, as per the 2020 declaration.

Preeti Tomar

Preeti Tomar from Tri Nagar constituency secured 58,504 votes. She had reported Rs 1,93,11,707 of assets and Rs 1,91,760 in liabilities. Her educational qualification is MSc, BEd from Meerut University.

A Dhanwati Chandela A

A Dhanwati Chandela A from Rajouri Garden constituency secured 62,212 votes. Dhanwati had declared a total of Rs 56,90,40,449 assets and liabilities worth Rs 98 lakh approximately.

Raj Kumari Dhillon

Raj Kumari Dhillon secured 58,087 votes and contested from Hari Nagar constituency. Dhillon has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Syama Prasad Mukherjee College of Delhi University. Her assets were worth Rs 48,08,47,690 while she had liabilities worth Rs 20,02,82,749.

Bhavna Gaur

Bhavna Gaur from Palam constituency secured 92,775 votes. She has done BA from University of Delhi in 1992, BEd from Maharishi Dayanand University. Her assets are recorded to be of Rs 14,27,686 and liabilities worth Rs 8,62,526.

Pramila Tokas

Pramila Tokas secured 47,208 votes and had contested from R K Puram constituency. Tokas has two criminal cases registered against her as per records. She has Rs 80,88,75,775 worth of assets and Rs 11,75,03,156 worth liabilities.

Atishi

Atishi from Kalkaji constituency won by 55,897 votes. Atishi has Rs 1,41,21,663 worth of assets, and one criminal case. She has a Master of Science degree from University of Oxford.

Atishi succeeded Arvind Kejriwal in 2024 as Delhi's new chief minister, becoming the third woman to assume the chair in the capital after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit
